What are good resources to use for statistics on plastic surgery?

I am writing a paper on TV shows and their effect on the demand of certain cosmetic surgery procedures. I need to find some statistics on the increases of certain procedures but I don’t know any good sources for this information. I would prefer information from medical journals or nation medical organizations. If you could help, that would be great! =] Thank you.
You can use Bing or another god search engine./ http://www.bing.com/search?q=TV+shows+and+their+effect+on+the+demand+of+certain+cosmetic+surgery+procedures.&go=&form=QBLH&qs=n
Taxing elective cosmetic surgery to help fund health care?

"Senate Democrats are proposing a 5% excise tax on elective cosmetic procedures… that includes things like Botox injections, breast implants, tummy tucks, face lifts, liposuction, teeth whitening, eyelid repairs, etc."
I can not believe democrats actually think this is a great idea. What do think? Do you think it is ok to tax people who do this, just because they have the extra money to have procedures done?
Of course it makes sense.
The only effective way to change people’s practices is to make it an economic choice. Making elective/no life threatening medical procedures taxable will cut demand for them, thereby contributing to reducing health care costs. Sure, those with the money will still choose them … but at least the tax will help pay for other procedures. Not taxing them means some other form of tax to raise the money. The other option is a tax on the middle class and rich. The money has to come from somewhere and the best choice is from those most directly benefiting and also choosing to have an optional procedure.
While at it, the value of employer paid heath insurance benefits accruing to workers should also be taxed as income … something that for some strange reason doesn’t happen in the US (unlike most countries).
In Canada we have universal health care, but cosmetic surgery is not covered. If you want it, you pay and pay taxes on the services. Makes perfect sense to any rational individual.
Cosmetic surgery for men, Most common procedure? How to find best surgeons? Pec implants? Botox costs?

I am a white male forty six years old. I need freshening up. I want to look younger than I feel, at least younger than I feel I look. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Botox
I work out. I eat fresh fruit for breakfast I eat vegetables for lunch. I have chicken or fish for dinner. I’m FORTY-SIX years old.
Botox is great to get rid of that "tired" look. As far as best surgeons, check their record to see if there were any complaints.
What are the likely consequences of the following events in the U.S. market for cosmetic surgery?

2.What are the likely consequences of the following events in the U.S. market for cosmetic surgery? Does the supply curve or the demand curve shift? In which direction? State whether the equilibrium price and quantity increase, decrease, or stay the same.
a.Health insurance coverage is expanded to cover all elective procedures, such as tummy tucks, nose jobs, and liposuction.
b.Personal finance companies start a nationwide lending program for cosmetic procedures not covered by health insurance.
c.Medical malpractice insurance premiums increase for plastic surgeons.
a. health insurance companies either go broke, or everyone’s premiums triple – which they won’t be able to afford, so they go uninsured.
b. they already do this. ANYONE who can get a personal loan, doesn’t have to say what the money is for.
c. well, that happens every year, too.
So there’s no new consequence for b & c, as they are already REGULAR events.
Ladies! Would you support your man if he wanted to get cosmetic surgery?

What do you think?
We always hear about women getting plastic surgery, but what about the men?
Would you support your boyfriend if he wanted to get a facelift, browlift or tummy tuck? I am talking purely cosmetic procedures, not stuff like liposuction or to fix a deformity…but vanity surgery!
I personally dont think men look good when they have cosmetic surgery…it makes them look feminine…but what do you think?
I’m 100% against vanity surgery for both genders. Anyone who is w/me would know that fact.
Cosmetic surgery/procedures?

I do have a question! So, this is what I would like to know, if someone has saved a bit of money, perhaps wants a couple cosmetic procedures done and is temp. out of work and not to mention lives in by far, maybe even the poorest area in the city, is there not some kind of sliding fee scale? And/or esp. considering as said? I was considering getting a couple of things done, and it’s all so very expensive to me! Just thought I’d ask! Initially, I thought I’d heard once there was some sort of thing…And, if so, how would you go about asking?
Cosmetic surgery is expensive and usually is an elective surgery.
I seriously doubt that there is a sliding fee scale for this unless it is for a person who is a burn or accident victim or someone born with birth disorders.
I don’t mean to sound rude or anything, but wouldn’t it be better for you to use what money you have saved to take care of your needs, and not your wants…before you consider cosmetic surgery?
Heidi Montag (The Hills) Has10 cosmetic surgery procedures – agree or disagree?

Since November of last year, the 23-year-old reality TV star has had 10 cosmetic surgery procedures including liposuction, butt augmentation, and botox – In addition to the breast augmentation and nose job she previously had done.
Heidi admited to People magazine that her obsession with changing her body stems from years of insecurity and being made fun of when she was younger. She says, “I (wanted) to feel better, to feel perfect. I was made fun of when I was younger, and so I had insecurities, especially after I moved to Los Angeles… They’d say nasty things. It bothered me. I just wanted to feel more confident and look in the mirror and be like, ‘Whoa! That’s me!’ I was an ugly duckling before.”
You can definitely see the surgery. I feel so bad for that poor girl. How insecure she became. She just looks like a cheap common whore now.
Before all the surgery, and being with Spencer, she was quite beautiful! Very natural looking. Now it’s all blonde hair and big boobs. Disgusting.
She’s going too end up not at a good place, as her journey with Plastic Surgery continues. We will have another Joan Rivers on our hands.. Even though Joan is fabulous and not "fake". Heidi sure as hell is though.
