I can not believe democrats actually think this is a great idea. What do think? Do you think it is ok to tax people who do this, just because they have the extra money to have procedures done?

Of course it makes sense.

The only effective way to change people’s practices is to make it an economic choice. Making elective/no life threatening medical procedures taxable will cut demand for them, thereby contributing to reducing health care costs. Sure, those with the money will still choose them … but at least the tax will help pay for other procedures. Not taxing them means some other form of tax to raise the money. The other option is a tax on the middle class and rich. The money has to come from somewhere and the best choice is from those most directly benefiting and also choosing to have an optional procedure.

While at it, the value of employer paid heath insurance benefits accruing to workers should also be taxed as income … something that for some strange reason doesn’t happen in the US (unlike most countries).

In Canada we have universal health care, but cosmetic surgery is not covered. If you want it, you pay and pay taxes on the services. Makes perfect sense to any rational individual.

a.Health insurance coverage is expanded to cover all elective procedures, such as tummy tucks, nose jobs, and liposuction.

b.Personal finance companies start a nationwide lending program for cosmetic procedures not covered by health insurance.

c.Medical malpractice insurance premiums increase for plastic surgeons.

a. health insurance companies either go broke, or everyone’s premiums triple – which they won’t be able to afford, so they go uninsured.

b. they already do this. ANYONE who can get a personal loan, doesn’t have to say what the money is for.

c. well, that happens every year, too.

So there’s no new consequence for b & c, as they are already REGULAR events.

We always hear about women getting plastic surgery, but what about the men?

Would you support your boyfriend if he wanted to get a facelift, browlift or tummy tuck? I am talking purely cosmetic procedures, not stuff like liposuction or to fix a deformity…but vanity surgery!

I personally dont think men look good when they have cosmetic surgery…it makes them look feminine…but what do you think?

I’m 100% against vanity surgery for both genders. Anyone who is w/me would know that fact.

I seriously doubt that there is a sliding fee scale for this unless it is for a person who is a burn or accident victim or someone born with birth disorders.

I don’t mean to sound rude or anything, but wouldn’t it be better for you to use what money you have saved to take care of your needs, and not your wants…before you consider cosmetic surgery?

Heidi admited to People magazine that her obsession with changing her body stems from years of insecurity and being made fun of when she was younger. She says, “I (wanted) to feel better, to feel perfect. I was made fun of when I was younger, and so I had insecurities, especially after I moved to Los Angeles… They’d say nasty things. It bothered me. I just wanted to feel more confident and look in the mirror and be like, ‘Whoa! That’s me!’ I was an ugly duckling before.”

You can definitely see the surgery. I feel so bad for that poor girl. How insecure she became. She just looks like a cheap common whore now.

Before all the surgery, and being with Spencer, she was quite beautiful! Very natural looking. Now it’s all blonde hair and big boobs. Disgusting.

She’s going too end up not at a good place, as her journey with Plastic Surgery continues. We will have another Joan Rivers on our hands.. Even though Joan is fabulous and not "fake". Heidi sure as hell is though.
