Working Visa’s, Living and Schooling in Greece….?

Calling on all Aussies or Western expats who have lived and worked in Greece in the Construction Industry.

Was hoping someone could give me some insight into the lifestyle of living as an Expat in Greece.
I currently have a close friend with a young family looking to move over near Athens to work on a Large Civil Infrastructure Project.

He has a wife and 2 children at schooling age- would like to know what schools you could recommended and if so, why does this school stand out?

Because he does not have any links to the UK he has to apply for a Greek working Permit and we have been told this complicates things.
-What is involved in the process?
-How long does it take?
-What prevents you from obtaining this?

Any information on the Lifestyles for an expat over there and useful tips for a family are welcomed.

Tell your friend I would only do this if I were getting buckets of money (a crazy amount).
The children will have the choice of a couple of private schools which teach in English in the centre of Athens – which may not be convenient for them if they are situated outside Athens (tell us where exactly and we can tell you the distance). Also the schools are incredibly expensive and there are few places so they would have to apply – maybe the company they will be working for will be able to help. Also will accommodation be supplied as renting is also expensive in the Athens area. We had some friends here from Australia last week and they said Greece is really expensive compared to Australia (your friend should keep this in mind.)

We own a construction company and believe me it’s a very difficult job here – ok, the construction company he will be working for will not be totally Greek (like ours) so situations may be better.
I was friends with the British that were involved with the building of the Preveza/Aktio tunnel back in 1998 and I remember the managing director (English) tearing his hair out with the Greek system and the slowness (he had previously been working in Japan – so Greece was a real eye opener)

I remember trying to get a residence and work permit in 1990 before EU members were able to live here without papers. It was horrendous – I was in tears they sent me to 5 different offices in and around Kifissia / Marousi – no one spoke English – I ended up throwing a pen at the person behind the desk – all because I wanted to become legal and pay my taxes!!! I ended up staying here illegally! I am 100% positive that the situation has now improved 1000% from then!!!! (PS I now pay all my taxes)
I have no idea what applies to Australians getting permits – however it does seem strange to me that the company is not sponsoring him – isn’t that the norm?

Lifestyle is what you make it and also depends on where you live and what you are used to. In my observations most Australians seem to have a better standard of lifestyle than Greeks. For a Brit the lifestyle will improve a lot in Greece – but for Australians I’m not so sure.

Does your friend have any links to Greece?

I believe it would be a good idea to do this if
1, Great salary
2. Accommodation provided
3. Private health insurance
4. Schooling fees paid
5. Sponsored for work/ residence permit

or if I were alone (which he’s not) and wanted an experience.

How do I increase number of girls I date if I don’t care how ugly and just want to increase number of partners?

How do I increase number of girls I date if I don’t care how ugly and just want to increase number of partners
How do I become a bottom-feeder, getting large quantities of low qualitity girls?

I was reading this book about socially skilled. And there was this case of Bottom-feeding Bud. He had been unpopular in high school getting no dates, and had no job or home. But he found it very easy to get older, fat, ugly women as dates in bars. He would wake up disgusted.

Now I’m not a pervert, and I don’t want to be bottom feeding bud.

But I would like to have a large quanitity of sexual partners. Quantity is its own quality. So really I have no limits of ugliness.

Kind of how Hal’s luck improved in shallow hal, when he got permanent beer goggles.

Does anyone have any tips on how to pursue this strategy?

I would like to maximize the number of girls I sleep with. Thats what a lot of guys here have asked. But what makes me different is that I’m ONLY interested in the number of girls I sleep with, and don’t care at all about attractiveness. My goal is to have a truly astronomical number of partners. And I don’t care about looks, age, old, fat, ugly, don’t matter. Which is not to say I don’t have preferences. I’m pretty conventional young, skinny, white, the classic beauty, in my inclinations, but I wont let that interfere with numbers. In fact I would sacrifice the chance to mate with an attractive female, if the time and resource investment prevented me from pursuing a larger number of ugly females. Quantity is a quality all its own.

Most pick-up artist seduction lit is targeted those getting attractive females. I think the rules and tactics are a little different for uglies, and I would appreciate detailed advice on tactics. Also I feel that traditional dating rules should not apply since I’m doing the female a favor. So I do not accept spending any money on these relationships, and expect the females to accept an open relationship, in which we are both free to pursue other partners.

To pre-empt any moralistic criticisms, I would say my goals are more moral than what 95% of young men want. They want a female who outranks them to lower herself, and do him the favor after he somehow tricks or coerces her. I on the other hand will for the most part be pursuing girls of lower value than me, and be doing THEM a favor.

Thats the funniest thing I’ve read on here..lol

Good luck you sound like an AIDS case just waiting to happen!

Baby boy question?

My son was circumsized. When I started changing his diapers as a newborn I noticed that fibers from the diapers made the skin of his penis stick to the shaft. Doc told us to pull back skin after each changing and clean. I did this, but his skin is sticking to his penis and preventing it from protruding out. I took him to the doc Friday about it and she said his skin is sticking but not to worry. She said to keep pulling the skin back after each diaper change and bath and eventually it will come loose. She was not concerned and said some docs break the skin loose but she did not see the point in hurting him if it wasn’t necessary. She said the skin is very sticky at this young of an age and that it will change over time, by age of 2 and this won’t happen anymore. But it looks as if the skin is permanently sticking to the tip of his penis. I have tried warm baths, vaseline, etc but it hasn’t changed. Anyone else have this problem?
He was circumcized by the hospital at 3 days old.

My son had the same thing…. he is now 21-months and it truly did stop sticking. I though he was going to have to have another circumcision done, but it did change.

Back-to-School with an Apple a Day?

Back-to-School with an Apple a Day?

Autumn signals not only the return of school days for many, but the organic apple farmer to our local farmer’s markets. It was Benjamin Franklin who coined the phrase, "An apple a day keeps the doctor away". True. But, it took until 2003, to find out that apples have 16 different biologic polyphenols. Polyphenols have a variety of different functions in the human body, including acting as antioxidants. One particular antioxidant, called quercetin, is not just a boon to the brain, but studies have shown that it may reduce cancer risks and prevent other diseases. Fresh, organic, whole apples are the best form of the fruit, as quercetin is found primarily in apple skin. Polyphenols may be responsible for some of the health-promoting effects of apples recognized by Franklin more than 200 years ago, but the apples in Franklin’s day weren’t treated with toxic or persistent pesticides. Today, apples are on the list of the most contaminated fruits and vegetables. So, while it’s still better that kids eat any apple rather than modern junk food, an organic apple a day (the way they used to be grown) is the best apple to keep the doctor away – according to both old wisdom and 21st century wisdom. See more information in Chapter 6 of the Natural Cures book).

A highly respected magazine for kids, once ad-free, is now packed with ads for fast food, candy, sugary cereals, snack cakes, and other products. At a time when nutrition-related health crises plague our nation, and especially our youth, it is unconscionable that this magazine has chosen to cram its pages with ads for meals such as fried chicken fingers with French fries, which provides 590 calories and more than half-a-day’s worth of fat and sodium. Junk food ads are clearly a major source of revenue for this magazine and others, in spite of some of the following facts which are not getting enough attention:

Feeding children hot dogs increases their risk of brain cancer by 300%. Strawberry yogurt, fruit punch and other red-looking grocery products are often colored with dead, ground-up cochineal beetles. The ingredient, called "carmine," is made from insects, and is listed on the label of many favorite foods.

Many Florida oranges are actually dipped in an artificial orange dye in order to make them visually appealing; the same dye that’s been banned for use in foods because of cancer risk.

Girl Scout cookies are still made with hydrogenated oils that contain trans fatty acids, which are common in foods kids eat, including fried foods like French fries, and in many baked goods (cookies, pastries, crackers, chips, etc.).

Eating just one serving of processed meat each day increases your risk of pancreatic cancer by 67%. How many processed meat sandwiches are eaten daily?

Much is being said these days about incorporating healthier foods into the school lunch programs, but home is still the best starting point. Children, especially younger ones, learn by imitation of those around them. If foods at home are healthy, kids will pick their favorites from among healthy choices provided. It helps if the healthy choices are also tasty and appealingly presented. Sneak healthy vegetables or fruits into baked goods, if necessary, and as a safety net in this processed-food world, use daily multivitamins.

It’s hard to overestimate the enormous potential of families sharing meals together in this day and age. Prepare to be inspired! Try one new fruit or vegetable a week; take your children shopping and pick out the right foods for you and them; choose the healthiest version of snack foods if you do consume them; discuss dietary changes with your family. Family meals are associated with better nutrition, better health, better behavior, and happier children and parents. Experts are wringing their hands about the obesity epidemic in children, depression in teens; citizens are concerned about violence, educators are distressed by falling school performance. Getting kids to eat healthy can be frustrating, but as kids eat more meals at home with their parents, they naturally begin to eat more fruits, vegetables, whole grains and healthy dairy products than their peers do. Fast-food meals more than twice a week are associated with increased obesity and type 2 diabetes. Studies show that youth who eat more family meals perform better in school, spend more time on homework, get better grades, and spend more of their free time reading for pleasure; perhaps, while enjoying their fresh, juicy, organic "apple for the day". Thank you, Benjamin!

THATS cool "APPLE 4 THE DAY"

i’m 13 and i don’t really care that i’m too young for fake nails. many ppl my age have been doing it. and my nails got too long and broke, so i’m putting on nails and painting them purple.
do you have any tips on how to make them come out good and look real. and how do you prevent bacteria from getting and making it all fungus-y.
thanks,
poohbear! =]

well u should put glue on both your finger and your finger nail so then there are no air bubbles in your nails and then to prevent bactieria is you just put hydrean peroxside on it and it goes away

Do using anti aging products/ eye creams actually make you age faster?

Im looking for a really good eye cream that will make me look young and prevent wrinkles; The best anti-aging stuff out there. I’m 20 years old (pleeeeeease dont tell me that I dont need it lol, im trying to start out as young as I can! haha) and I want to start keeping my face looking young now, so I dont have to worry that much later, any tips?

But mostly, what’s the best anti-aging face/eye cream for sensitive skin/or acne prone skin

Thanks SO much :-)

That is common for girl to seek for a better way to keep young. But you should not rely on the beauty products so early. You can try the massage yourself, some yoga and to sleep early avoiding sit up at night. Any product is not better than good habits. Don’t smoke and drink too much.
You can use some natural products in order not to faster your age. haha. But the first important thing is to use suntan lotion whenever you are outside.The products of Pretty Valley from Canada are natural. This is the only brand I am using now. I like it. Maybe you can try.

Preventing The Signs Of Aging Skin With Natural Ingredients

Have you ever wished you looked several years younger than your real age? Most people, especially we women, don’t really look forward to developing signs of aging skin. It is a fact that we would rather retain our youthful looking skin over the years even as we get older. However, since aging is inevitable, we just have to face reality and do something towards preventing signs of aging skin. The good news is that it is very much achievable with natural ingredients.

Before going into these potent substances, let us first identify some of the problems of aging skin; they are as follows:

* Dryness
* Loose sagging skin
* Uneven skin tone
* Age spots and blotches
* Wrinkles and fine lines
* Bags and dark circles under the eyes
* Rough skin texture
* Dullness

None of the above skin problems is palatable to have; hence in order to stop them from occurring, you need skin care products that contain effective natural ingredients that would counter the three basic causes of aging skin which are:

* Decrease in collagen and elastin in the body
* Lower level of hyaluronic acid
* Oxidation through the activities of free radicals.

To solve the above three basic problems you need a product that contains the following three essential natural ingredients:

Cynergy TK – This stimulates the production of natural collagen and elastin in the body; thereby helps in preventing the signs of aging skin such as sagging, wrinkles, fine lines and uneven skin tone.

Phytessence Wakame – This ingredient inhibits the activity of hyaluronidase, and thereby increases the level of hyaluronic acid which prevents the formation of dark circles around the eyes. It also protects the skin from UV rays damage; its moisturizing properties prevent dryness and rough skin texture. Wakame has been proven to keep the skin radiant, beautiful and ageless.

Nano-Lipobelle H EQ10 – It is one of the best known antioxidant. It counters the activities of free radicals before any damage is done; therefore it helps to hinder the occurrence of various signs of aging skin. It also has anti wrinkle properties which mean that it helps to prevent the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. It helps to prevent the formation of age spots by protecting the skin against damage from UV rays of the sun.

These three ingredients are not only effective in preventing aging skin; they are also natural substances that are safe for your body. To learn more about them and other safe natural ingredients, visit my website.

Top 5 Secrets To Younger Looking Skin

Do you know the top 5 tips for younger looking skin? Then find out right here in this article.

Would you like to know some wonderful tips to achieve younger looking skin? If so, you definitely need to know about these following 5 tips to help you achieve just that. See, there are many things that can affect how fast you age and this includes your skin. Of course you cannot control all of them, like your genetics but most of them are controllable. You can do many things to help keep your skin looking young and the following are the top 5 tips we offer to help you achieve that younger healthier skin.

1 – Reduce Sugar Intake

Sugar can make your skin look more wrinkled and dull when you have a high consumption of it. This can make you look years older than you really are. You might ask how sugar does this and that is a good question. Sugar attaches itself to the proteins in your body thus forming ‘AGE’ proteins. This also includes your skin’s elastic and collagen. Free radicals can be caused by sugar and these radicals make your skin age faster, especially the older you are, around 35 and over. Type 3 collagen is fairly tough but sugar can turn it into type 1 which is a more brittle and not so youthful looking collagen.

So the verdict? Minimize your sugar intake and consider using natural sweeteners, like honey and make sure you also opt for low GI carbs.

2 – Consider A Shower Filter

This might surprise you but a shower filter can actually help your skin look and feel younger. Chlorine is a potent oxidant and it can age the skin therefore adding a shower filter can remove all the chemicals including chlorine. This gives you healthier, softer and younger looking skin. KDF filters or activated carbon filters will take out as much as 95% of the harmful chemicals from your water. Many users of these filters have reported their skin looks younger and also feels smoother and better than before the filter.

3 – Have Low GI Foods

What is GI? GI means glycemic index. This index ranks the carbs by the effect they have on the blood glucose levels in your body. Many people struggle with alternating levels of blood sugar and this can affect your mood, increase your waist and damage your skin. When you eat low glycemic index foods you produce a lesser amount of cortisol which in turn makes your body produce DHEA will has anti aging effects on your body. This means you achieve natural younger looking skin and feel younger as well in a healthy manner.

You might wonder how you can apply these foods to your diet. You want to be sure to avoid foods including refined foods, most rice and white potatoes and even white bread. The foods you want to incorporate into your diet include multigrain bread, lentils and beans, yogurt, fruits, basmati rice and vegetables.

4 – Use Non-SLS Skin Care Products

What does SLS stand for? Sodium Laurel Sulfate which is a dangerous chemical found in a majority of skin care products that can irritate the skin and oxide it as well. The scary truth to SLS is that it is used in industrial cleaner along with engine degreaser. This is a turn off for many people and probably yourself now. This is why it’s important to know the ingredients involved in your skin care products and make sure they do not contain SLS. This is a huge step towards achieving that younger skin.

5 – Minimize Saturated Fats Intake

There are both good and bad fats but you want to have the right ones in your diet or else your skin will pay the price. Did you know saturated fats should only make up 10% of your daily diet? Try to avoid any saturated fats that are in sour cream, ice cream, fatty meats, cheese, pastries and processed foods. You might wonder which fats are best for your body. The answer is monounsaturated fats. These fats can be found in foods like avocados, nuts and even olive oil. The omega 3 fats that are in fish, flax seed oil, salmon and walnuts are also a good fat to consume. Having the proper diet with the proper fats can benefit your skin by making it look younger and healthier.

Now you have it. You now know the 5 top tips to help you achieve younger skin. Make sure you read the second part to learn about 5 more tips to help you gain healthier and younger looking skin.
