Botox is an injection used to block transmission between the nerve endings and muscle fibers around the injection site. This makes it impossible for the muscle to contract. No contractions means no wrinkles. For example, when a person scowls, the muscles in his or her forehead constrict causing frown lines. With a Botox injection in this location, if a person was to frown, the muscles in the forehead would be unable to constrict, hence no frown lines.

Some of the risks involved with Botox injections are headaches, flu-like symptoms, temporary droopy eyelids, nausea, double vision, eye twitching, facial pain, redness at injection site, and muscle weakness.

Botox injection benefits outweigh the risk by far. There is absolutely no downtime, no recovery period, and you can resume normal activities as soon as you walk out of the doctor’s office. Within a few days you have a more youthful appearance. There is very minimal pain involved. If you are considering the Botox procedure, make sure the doctor you choose is well educated and experienced in the Botox injection procedure to ensure the best results.
